Governor directs $20M to Energy Projects
Governor Brewer announced that the application for the State Energy Program through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has been submitted to the U.S. Department of Energy. The largest portion of the funds requested, $20 million, will be directed to the completion of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for Arizona's public schools. The School K-12 Grant Program and Energy Performance Contracting allocates this federal stimulus funding to the School Facilities Board which will be able to leverage both private capital through energy saving performance contracts and utility company rebate programs to make energy improvements in schools statewide. The SFB anticipates the grant application process to start sometime in August 2009.
